First Nations Kitchen offers a variety of opportunities to participate in preparing and serving the Sunday meal:
1:00 pm: cook arrives (with exception of cooks from El Santo Niño)
1:30-3:30 pm: food prep (6-8 volunteers)
2:45-3:30 pm: bread run (1-2 volunteers), includes prepping/bagging breads on-site for dinner and giveaway
4-5:00 pm: dining room set up (3 volunteers: 2 for dining room set up and 1 dishwasher)
5-6:30 pm: dinner service (8-10 volunteers)
6:15-7:30 pm: clean up (6 volunteers minimum; it is fine for dinner service folks to stay on but this has to be committed to and written in the blue notebook, please). One note: clean up always includes mopping even if the floor looks great!
Community volunteer coordinators needs to contact us with the volunteer count at least one week ahead of their time commitment. To ensure participation, it’s important for coordinators to get the dates in all communications at their church/organization and to send emails, make phone calls, post signs with all the dates, and have someone announce at the services. Folks respond to different methods so we encourage using as many as possible!
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We are grateful for your partnership!
